A long-term illness such as kidney failure takes its toll both physically and financially on kidney patients. The National Kidney Foundation of Maine provides assistance to kidney patients and transplant recipients in need. Patient Assistance Grants are available as a one-time emergency request.

The NKFM offers financial assistance for help with medications, transportation to and from dialysis, housing, food, and other material needs (glasses, dentures, utilities, etc.). To apply for these funds, patients must contact their dialysis center social worker and submit applicable receipts.

Organ Donation

Organ and tissue donation is a true gift of life. It is the most precious gift any of us can give. Today's medical technology enables us to prolong and save the lives of many people through transplantation. Without donation, however, we cannot provide this opportunity to the thousands of people who are currently waiting for a life-saving organ transplant.

YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE:

  1. Get an organ donor card-call me: 1.800.639.7220
  2. Sign your organ donor card or sign up at your DMV
  3. Tell your family you are an organ donor
